I had a very restful holiday
Pros: Game drive was lovely, loved the space, scenery and available facilities. Very peaceful. Everyone, including guests, was friendly. I am definitely happy
Cons: We had no wifi the entire stay but this was as a result of the weather conditions Location is lovely just the gravel road leading to the farm did get quite slippery as a result of the rain

Peaceful and relaxing
Pros: Accommodation: Cottage was beautiful, spacious and clean, Had free wifi. Horses graze around. Milk, oil, salt, pepper, soap provided. Braai stands and potjie pot provided. Wood provided for fire place and braai. Location: close to Welgevonden big five game reserve. Star safari was enjoyable, relaxing in the open field with pillows and blankets provided, seeing the stars so clearly, the milky way and another galaxy, learning about the stars and planets, watched through the telescope connected to a projector screen, how the 4 moons of Jupiter were aligned behind the planet and as they appeared.
Cons: The game drive at the Waterberg cottages was uncomfortable since the seat behind the driver was sunken, torn and could feel the metal. Could not see the game far away since the seat was not raised like the back seats. 2 hours game drive: one hour was actually spent on the game drive talking about the plant species, termites and less time viewing the mammals, ranger stopped away from the animals and spoke, then it was too late to see the elands close-up. This is why we went on the game drive to see the elands close-up and take photos. Could not get decent photos. This was therefore disappointing. The second hour was spent at the lookout point eating snacks and having drinks.

Great, if we should return to this area we would book Waterberg Cottage
Pros: The reception was very friendly. Nothing was too much for them. Stargazing under the guidance of Dr. Phillip was very special and professional. The walks on the complex were well signposted. The game drives were extremely fun and adventurous.
Cons: The distance between Vaalwater and Waterberg cottage. As Europeans we are not used to such distances. So it is wise to make this clear when booking in terms of distances from certain points on the route.

Tranquility in the Bushveld
Pros: Exceptionally friendly and welcoming hosts, offering a selection of beautiful/traditional Waterberg self-catering cottages full of character, history and delightful quirky features. For those who prefer camping in the bushveld - there are also 10 luxury tents with spectacular views and uniquely each with a decadent hot tub on the patio. The game reserve is well stocked with plains game, great birdlife and for horse lovers - there is an option for game viewing on horseback. There are well marked trails for walkers and the proprietor is one of the leading astronomy guides in South Africa - so do ask about these spectacular and informative astronomy shows when booking. This is a fascinating part of the world - allow yourself to be immerse in nature AND one of South Africa's historical gems.
Cons: The approach road to the location fine for a two wheel drive car, but a little bit of clearance needed.
