Pafuri Camp by RETURN Africa

On the banks of the Luvuvhu River, in the far north of Kruger National Park, Pafuri Camp by RETURN Africa invites guests into a landscape alive with birdsong, shifting light, and the quiet presence of wildlife. Here, luxury takes the form of simplicity in rhythm with nature: canvas tents raised beneath ancient trees, each one a sanctuary with its own furnished verandah overlooking the riverโ€™s flow. The camp is fully serviced, with meals and high tea prepared daily. Communal spaces open to the outdoors encourage al fresco dining, while the swimming pool offers a cool pause between explorations. Inside each tent, guests find private en suite bathrooms, fresh linen, and towels, comforts that allow the wilderness to be experienced with ease. Dining is thoughtful and inclusive, with special menus available on request. Beyond the camp, guides lead walks and open safari vehicle drives, sharing their knowledge of Pafuriโ€™s rich biodiversity and layered histories. Every moment here is an invitation to connect, to the river, to the land, and to the stories carried by this remarkable corner of Kruger.

Perfect

Pros: The staff makes incredible effort to enhance your experience. From coffee service in the morning through supper after the evening activity: there's always someone smiling. Marcus was an exemplary guide showing us around the concession and taking the time to experience its diversity. Exceptional housekeeping and kitchen.

Cons: The nyala who had just given birth within the camp's boundaries was a bit much on a Wednesday morning.

A gem, perfect setting, friendly and passionate people. We will return.

Pros: Friendly people who have a passion for the land, superb location on the river, knowledgeable local guides

Cons: Would be ideal if we could fly in to the strip with our own aircraft but I believe Sanparks rules do not permit.

Great spot to relax

Pros: View, Staff & rooms are amazing. Animals everywhere at the lodge.

Cons: Need to improve quality and variety of food considering the price of the structure. Unfortunately game drives are restricted to the concession area, chances to see animals are limited. You have better chances to see animals while staying at the lodge, since there is a river and there are plenty of elephants, buffalos, monkeys, birds and antelopes.

Authentic luxury bush experience in a pristine environment

Pros: We were bowled over by this camp. Just fabulous and catering for locals and international visitors alike. It didnโ€™t feel like some of the private camps do where they market for international tourists only. Totally over the top. This felt authentically luxurious if thatโ€™s a way to describe it. Totally refreshing to be with local SA families and staff from the local area too. Scenery up north is spectacular as is the location of this camp. We will be back !

Momorable stay in understated Luxury in the Best Place on Earth - Birding Heaven!

Pros: Pafuri Luxury Safari Lodge exceeded our expectations. The Lodge itself is beautifully designed, spacious and comfortable in the open air overlooking the Levuvhu River. The units are extremely comfortable, with every little convenience thoughtfully provided for. The meals were fabulous - tasty and attractively presented. The staff were all extremely welcoming and friendly. The game drives exploring the area were wonderful, and Hlahla our guide was very knowledgeable about the birds and wildlife/ flora / history of the area, and had a wonderful sense of humor! It was our anniversary, and the staff made a special effort to make our big day extra special. We had such a wonderful stay, that we extended our stay with an extra day.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Our stay at Pafuri was amazing! The place is beautiful - everything is so thoughtfully designed and arranged. The staff are a 10/10. Our (family) tent was very well equipped and we had an amazing view over the Luvuvhu River. The food was always great. We loved spending time and learning from Bush (Brighton), our amazing, clever guide.

Cons: Leaving!
