we saw the Big 5 all in one afternoon, Gareth was a terrific guide.

Pros: very friendly staff, Gareth our guide was excellent and filled us with knowledge, food was delicious, accommodation was decorated beautifully. A terrific place to stay.

Cons: paying for airport transfers could have been complimentary, the airport is so close by, we watched so many close planes taking off overhead at the lodge. not all beverages are inclusive.

Pros: Well organised game drives with hugely knowledgeable insights from the guide, Tanya - enabling us to see the Big 5 and more within only 2 nights stay. She made the experience.

Cons: Appreciate we are in the wild but a lot of dead flies in the bedroom

Amazing Stay but Tipping Policy Felt Uncomfortable

Pros: The hotel is stunning! The rooms are big, super clean, and really comfortable. The view from the terrace is just incredible and they provide board games. What really made the stay special was the team. Our ranger, Jandré, was fantastic! He’s so knowledgeable and passionate, and he shared so many interesting things. Tania also seems great, and overall the staff has such a good vibe, which makes the whole experience even better. Honestly, I loved every moment and would definitely recommend it!

Cons: Overall, the place is beautiful and the experience was great, but there was one big negative point for me. On the first day, we found a note on the bed explaining that at the end of the stay we would receive envelopes for tips, and that it was recommended to give a minimum of 450 ZAR per room per day for each: the staff, the ranger, and the tracker. That adds up to 1,350 ZAR per day, which is a significant amount. First, we didn’t have cash with us, but more importantly, in this type of all-inclusive hotel where we already pay a high price, we didn’t expect such a large additional cost. It really put a negative pressure on us during the whole stay (and on the other three couples who were there with us as well). Honestly, I would have preferred to pay more upfront than feeling this pressure during the trip, and I truly hope the team is paid fairly even without tips because their service is great.

Excellent stay for safari with very experienced guides

Pros: Beautiful lodge in a large private game reserve . Tania was an excellent guide for the safari’s. Nice staff

Cons: Advise to tip staff and even amount. (With different amounts written) Feels as if the guides and staff don’t get enough salary from owners of Lodge.

Pros: Our stay at Tomo Safari Lodge was absolutely perfect – just as beautiful as the pictures, if not even better. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, unlike anything we’ve experienced before. The food was delicious, and although we are vegan, they catered to us with ease and so much care (we had mentioned it in advance). Our guide Jaundre impressed us with his knowledge, charm, and deep respect for the animals. We were lucky enough to see not only the Big 5, but also the “Magnificent 7” – with cheetah and African wild dog – and all sightings were private and respectful, with a maximum of two jeeps. The lodge itself is small, personal, and international – we met such interesting and friendly guests and felt at home immediately. Truly an unforgettable stay, and we are already planning our return!
