Pros: Very tranquil, perfect for peace and quiet. There’s no reception except via WiFi connection so if you wanna take calls while there, you might want to reconsider

Cons: The roads are not friendly, if you’re not coming with an SUV or a bakkie, you’ll be miserable driving to and from the lodge. Even compact SUVs are not recommended. A bit of variety for supper, like at breakfast would be lovely. Sometimes you don’t have dietary requirements but aren’t a fan of what is being served.

Pros: We were incredibly impressed by the lodge – your help was simply outstanding. Everything was perfectly arranged, and the host’s assistants were joyful and absolutely delightful. We ate exceptionally well. Truly no words. Annie and John, we’re deeply grateful for the warm and loving treatment and everything else. A very special thank you to the amazing attendants – your warm smiles and joyful greetings made us feel truly welcome every single day. The food was absolutely Delicious! We left longing to stay more. Thank you so much!

Wonderful

Pros: A very pleasant stay — the rooms and tents were clean, cosy, and well-designed, with lovely outdoor showers. The food was enjoyable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Annie, the host, made sure everything went smoothly. My 2 year old had a blast. I'd be happy to return.

Relaxing, peaceful, friendly home from home in the bush

Pros: Annie is so friendly and helpful. Everywhere was immaculate and exceptional quality. Wonderful breakfast of fruits, yoghurts, pastries and full English. The staff went out of their way to cater for our fussy eater son! Evening meals delicious. We loved having sundowners up the lookout tower. A fridge in the room was a bonus. Only 40 mins from Orpen Gate. Such a relaxing location we will definitely be back and for longer next time.

Pros: Annie, Betty and the rest of the staff truly went above and beyond. We will not hesitate to visit again.

Excellent

Pros: Everything about the property is great, lovely dinners, lovely ladies from reception to the serving. Lovely room, very clean and cosy. The location also great, I’ve travelled more than three times and I use a small hatchback but the roads aren’t bad.

Cons: Not to say I didn’t like but the transfers were a bit steep for only one excursion 🥹🥹 I paid it but out of my budget

Lovely and memorable

Pros: Great location - not too far from Hoedspruit airport and in a private reserve that's a great hub to explore around Kruger. The lodge is very cosy and intimate. Reminded us of camping, while still having all the necessary facilities and feeling looked after. The staff were all brilliant and qualify as one of the most welcoming people ever.

Cons: Everything was great. Just to set the expectations right - the pool is for dipping, not for swimming.

The animal hip and the place of hospiality

Pros: Frome the Malachite king fisher lodge you are even able to spot animals while resting at your bed. Spot from a Serval, Civet heeps of different bird speacees, lizards ect.

Cons: All was nice

Nice and friendly place

Pros: Well-designed rooms / tents with outdoor showers which we loved. Very good food, dinner as well as breakfast. Very nice staff and owner. Just good to know that it is quite a long drive (approx. 12 km) from the main road to the lodge which needs time. Zebras and other animals are walking nearby, in particular at breakfast time. Great!
