Tomjachu Bush Retreat

Within 14 km of Nelspruit, set in a 550 hectares lush and tranquil private nature reserve within the Crocodile Valley, Tomjachu Bush Retreat features a restaurant, beautiful hiking trails and view sites for picnics and romantic occasions. The reserve is home to plains game animals that can be enjoyed on a combination of 26 km well- marked self guided hiking trails. Fishing, mountain biking and game drives are offered on the property as well as guided nature trails. Beyond the tar road leading to Tomjachu Bush Retreat the route follows a gravel road not suitable for low suspension sports cars. Please feel free to contact us regarding the access roads if you have any queries or concerns. Tomjachu Bush Retreat offers a variety of self-catering accommodation. Specific units have a private plunge pool and there is also a communal swimming pool at Homestead. The units feature African-inspired décor, there are seating and dining areas specific to the self-cater units, fans, and tea-and-coffee-making facilities. The self-cater units come with a fully equipped kitchens and specific offer a view of Bekker Mountain. Meals are available upon request in the Lodge Dining room. An array of activities can be enjoyed in the surroundings, including Kruger tours and Scenic Route Tours outsourced to a specialist guide. Nelspruit Golf Club is within 12 km, the Mbombela Stadium is 25 minutes’ drive away and the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport is within a 40-minute drive. The Malelane entrance to Kruger National Park is within 80 km.

Pros: The staff is so nice and kind, and willing to help with everything. We got a free upgrade because I told the resort that I am worried the road to crooked cottage would be too difficult for my mini countryman. And I left an Apple earpod at the room and Charles found it. The resort contacted me and offered to send a courier guy to give me back my earpod. They are so nice

A rest for the soul

Pros: The pleasantly balanced hospitality and thoughtful attentiveness made our stay very comfortable. Although the area is dry, the room was kept spotless every day without any trace of dust, and I really liked the calm furnishings and design of the facility. The staff were sincere and down-to-earth, and I could quietly feel the owner’s passion for running the hotel. It is definitely a hotel I would love to visit again.

A lovely peaceful retreat

Pros: This lovely, peaceful retreat offered stunning views. The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We stayed in the Keepers Cottage, which was adorable and had amazing views. It was fully equipped with everything we needed and had a comfortable bed!

Cons: My only negative regarding the lodge was the coffee. The room only had instant coffee, and the restaurant had filter coffee, so no espresso coffee in the morning! Kruger National Park is only 1.5 hours away and riding in a safari truck for that long is quite a trek!
