Acra-Retreat Mountain View Lodge

Positioned on the edge of a cliff, Acra-Retreat is situated on the border of the malaria-free Elands Krans Nature Reserve. It is a good stopover point between Johannesburg and the Kruger National Park. It features a seasonal outdoor pool and a children's pool and barbecue facilities. Horse riding, mountain climbing, abseiling and spa treatments can be arranged at the reception. The area abounds in birdlife, including species like owls, swallows and guinea fowls. All rooms offer a private entrance to the decks with mountains views. Each room is fitted with a flat-screen TV and satellite channels. Tea/coffee facilities, a safe, and fan are standard. Acra-Retreat Mountain View Lodge has a fully licensed pub. Sundowners can also be enjoyed on the deck, and dinners are served on request. The hotel is located on the way to the Kruger Park, 2.5 hour’s drive from Johannesburg. Free secure and private parking is possible on site.

Pros: It was a wonderful location with very friendly staff, we even got a free upgrade of the room (size). It was nice to have what felt like a home cooked meal instead of the standard restaurant selection and style. The food was very good.

Acra mountain retreat is an absolute pleasure.

Pros: Second time here and it didn't disappoint! Such a beautiful place, so peaceful. Comfortable. Spacious. Fabulous food, all beautifully presented. Such welcoming hosts. Thankyou again. Hope to be back and will certainly be recommending to family and friends.

Pros: Accommodation is close to the main road. Clean rooms, welcoming and pleasant staff. Beautiful and calming environment 👌. Very impressed with the variety of spreads, fruits and breakfast cereals.

Cons: Pork replacement was fried potatoes, which were a bit oily. A suggestion is beef mince, beef sausage, viennas or chicken livers for pork replacement but not potatoes.

Pros: The people who work there are amazing and the owners are super friendly. Stunning view over the mountains. The room was beautiful and very large. The food was just perfect, that lady can really cook. Definitely will visit again.

Amazing stop on the way

Pros: Amazing break on the way to Kruger. Hospitality of the host and the team was truly generous! Plenty of birds to watch from the balcony. Wish we stayed a but longer!

Fantastic place to stay

Pros: Had a lovely stay. Enjoyed a drink on the balcony and dinner on site. Our room was beautifully designed and decorated. Would recommend.

Cons: Ricoffee in room - this may be controversial because many South Africans like this brand but it's not my preferred cup as contains chickory. Had proper coffee with breakfast though so not a major issue.

Relaxing, Tranquil and Peaceful. ☺️

Pros: The property was close by from where we went to hike. The road to the property was well maintained and the food oh my gosh, lovely. Dinner and breakfast was amazing thanks to Hilda, Fortunate and Precious for the lovely food prepared with love and kindness. Pity we arrived after lunch so we missed the lunch opportunity, till next time though. Norma has good staff working for her. God Bless you all.
