Paradise

Pros: Piece of paradise. Enjoyed our stay and the staff was very friendly. The full board meals were also amazing

Cons: The lodge is far off the road and requires a high ground clearance car. It was a bad drive to get there

My Stay Was Everything and Beyond

Pros: I liked everything about the property. From the friendly and helpful staff, to friendly and knowledgeable guides, to the beautiful and tranquil nature facilities, to the nice food. My expectations were exceeded.

Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect.

Very good, but the departure was poor

Pros: Very good food, great game drives, staff very friendly, pool and restaurant area very nice

Cons: At departure, they took us on some kind of extra game drive.. but nobody informed us about that so we missed the next appointment of our trip (it took 1h30 instead of 15 mins to the parking space).

Awesome exprience. Great staff. Perfect safari experience

Pros: That was superb! December appeared to be a low season and the place was not crowded. The room was great (yeah, minor imperfections due to usage, but in general just great), but what is more important the staff is making the mosts of your experience, and they are just super nice people. Everyone from the Makalali made our stead feeling like a 5-star experience being super welcoming, polite and helpful. Special thanks to Pilot who made it possible to track the rhinos which was a challenge. We also saw the lions, giraffes, elephants and many more animals and birds. I mean… that was my first safari experience and that was mega! Also the food was great. Managed to try ostrich (good one) and crocodile for the first time. Also the bonfire night was lovely. There are so many good words I’d like to say. Just try it. You won’t regret.

Cons: I can’t say I didn’t like something, the stay was just perfect. The only minor thing to know is that it takes additional 45 min to drive from the gates to the park (which is the major google maps pin) to the parking lot on a so-so gravel road. So either make sure you car has some reasonable clearance (Suzuki S-presso worked just fine) or ask the staff to pick you from the gates where you can leave your car securely behind the fence with guards in case the clearance is not enough. But again, this is a minor thing just to know for planning.

Cons: We had to pay for soft drinks for the duration of the stay. If food is included why aren’t drinks included

Our stay was EXCEPTIONAL and EPIC! Thank you for the unforgettable, out of this world experience.

Pros: Everything from our reception as guests to our departure was magnificent! It was an absolute epic experience. Saw the Big 6 (cheetas included) up close and 'personal''. 19 lions in total. Cubs feeding on a kill under supervision of their father - a magnificent male lion. Magnificent, to say the least! Kudos to all staff members, in particular our guides Sharon and Rodney - well informed and very professional. What a team! The buffet braai in the boma was epic. So much food, we had to skip lunch on the second day. The gifts in the room with bookmarks relating to the gifts were superb! It was the best ever lodge stay we have experienced and we shall return.

Cons: There was nothing not to like.

Pros: The staff were super friendly. Pilot, our ranger went over and above to get us close to the animals. Breakfast was delicious.

Cons: Lunch menu can be improved.

Pros: The staff were super friendly, and very accommodating with all the requests we had. Our guide was able to track down every animal we wanted to see even though we were there for two days. The location was beautiful

Cons: The road from the gate to the reception were you get picked up is very bad. The car we were travelling in wasn't suited for it. Would have liked to be informed of this before hand.

An awesome place

Pros: We loved the cleanliness, attention to detail and lotsa food. Quality was good.

Cons: A little of the research of the rangers but wasn't a major issue. Their knowledge was good.

Fantastic

Pros: Game drive and staff interaction with my husband's birthday were five star. The pool setting and view (with champagne) were first class.
