Amazing stay in a secluded artist property

Pros: Philip is a great host and a very interesting person. He upgraded us to the family house, a stunning place with a great terrace and view. The house has a strong artistic character and great story behind it (it’s full of art pieces of his father). He also provided great breakfast and showed us his art and furniture studio on the premises. Really recommend it if you’re passing by White River!

Cons: That we only stayed one night!

Pros: Beautiful place with a pool Ok location if you have a car, to go for trails and visit the Chimp Reserve Friendly owner Good breakfast Our room smelled humidity and the kitchen was not very well equipped

Pros: Phillip was an exceptional host, imparting his local knowledge & recommendations including a great breakfast!! A great location for exploring the area for a few days or longer, before heading to the Kruger, combined with fabulous views over the Lowveld. His father's celebrated artwork features prominently throughout, giving the property an authentic and genuine homely vibe, not to mention a lovely pool & gardens.. Highly recommended..

A truly magical bush experience!

Pros: We truly loved this magical experience in the bush! From the house, to the views, to the history, to the wonderful and very attentive and accommodating host, Philip! This stay will be in our memory bank for a long long time!

Cons: Even though there was no WiFi, we loved going offline for a few days! The hot water for the bath was not great but all the showers (including outdoor) were fantastic!

Artistic ambiance, unique house with serene views of stunning nature

Pros: This is the converted studio of Zakkie Eloff, one of South Africa’s most renowned wildlife artists. The house has been meticulously transformed from his studio into a charming residence with three bedrooms. The original artwork displayed throughout enhances the ambiance and allure of the property. Numerous unique touches, artifacts, and accessories contribute to its distinctiveness. All bedrooms are comfortable, with the master bedroom being particularly spacious. Each bedroom is en-suite and equipped with an outdoor shower. Due to inclement weather, we were unable to utilize the pool, but the veranda offered breathtaking views that complemented the serene atmosphere. The breakfast was graciously served by the wonderful host Phillip, the artist’s son, in the main house, which was also adorned with numerous exquisite, large, and impressive original paintings.

Cons: The access road is a bit steep and narrow.

Pros: The hosts were very accommodating to all my requests and the dogs loved the space and freedom.

Cons: We were looking forward to the outdoor bath and shower which was why we booked here instead of choosing our other option. But hopefully next time we will be able to use the other unit that has these facilities.
