Wonderful lodge, incredible staff, and amazing animals!

Pros: Baluleni is an incredible place; the game drives are led by guides who know so much about the animals they are showing you and more importantly where to find them! The staff at the lodge provide you with amazing food and can cater for all dietary needs with no concerns. Between the morning and evening game drive you have time to recharge the batteries, watching impala, kudu, and monkeys in the grassy areas of the lodge, and if you are lucky, elephant and giraffe in the ravine just beyond. The pool is a great place to cool off on those hot days, and the option of a massage should not be passed over......simply incredible! Andreas and Heike are amazing hosts, and the staff will make you feel so special. We were there for 4 nights which felt about right, but could have stayed longer. A place to truly unwind and see the wonders of nature!

Cons: Given where the lodge is situated, the access to the site is on dirt roads which are a little challenging in places. However we had a VW polo and managed it without problems. Basically, take your time, look out for animals and be careful! This should not put you off going to this lodge, one of the charms is it's location on the middle of the reserve!

Pros: Baluleni is completely immersed in the nature, with no fences. The field guides Tian and Klass and the tracker Sarrel (sorry for the spelling) are expert and they always have some facts to teach about animals and trees. The chef is very good and nice, we really liked her braai in the warm boma. The owners are always welcoming and helpful.

unforgettable experiences

Pros: good location without fences, the chalet is just near the river, we've been visited by giraffes and other cute wild-animals. the owner and the staff try their best to make us comfortable, the guide who took us to the safari provided much useful information and explained each animals we've found, thanks to him we were so luck to see three lions eating a giraffe...wow

Cons: the road into Baluleni is terrible, please drive carefully if self-driving without SUV drinks at dinner are at an additional cost, better to know if could been told in advance

Amazing!

Pros: I strongly recommend this lodge. It was a last-minute booking, but Haike organized everything for us quickly and efficiently. We had a wonderful experience. This is a little lodge, nevertheless everything is perfectly organized. The atmosphere feels comparable to that of a vacation home. I especially enjoyed the idea of bringing everyone to the fire place after the evening safari to wait for dinner, where they may communicate and exchange experiences. We got a room that viewed the river, and we observed multiple creatures without leaving the room. Excellent staff; everyone is nice and lovely to speak with. The men that take you on safari are likewise excellent. The lodge's owners live there permanently and are really welcoming guys. I hope we come back here again. Little features I'd like to note include a Nespresso machine in the room, good wi-fi if you need it for business, a heated sheet during the cold season (a great concept), a bed net, a water station in lobby.

Unforgettable

Pros: We loved our stay at Baluleni, it was a magical experience from start to finish! The staff were amazing, so attentive, Tian and Skye were extremely informative on the game drive and a credit to Baluleni and the owners were fab in offering advice on the rest of our stay in SA and lending us binoculars! It was an unforgettable and exciting experience to be in an unfenced lodge, we had many animals come and visit during our stay, including elephants at dinner and a giraffe during a massage on the terrace! Beautiful place and would love to return one day!

Cons: Nothing!

Great adventure with a genuine friendly staff.

Pros: Great relaxed atmosphere with an awsome guide Skye who really shared his passion and great knowledge about nature. We got a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite.

Cons: The price may put some people off. But it’s certainly wotth it. 3 meals a day, two game drives a day with great guides. We even got an extra night drive where we see a lion make a kill and eat it with whole the family.

Pros: The hosts were amazing. They made my family and I feel at home away from home. The food is delicious, the service is amazing and the rooms are quite comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were there over Christmas and they went out of their way to make it special and memorable. I would highly recommend. Value for money for sure.
