Lowveld Gem

Pros: The hostess is super friendly and very helpful. She was in contact often to ensure that I got there safely. I was having car trouble. She went out of her way to arrange a lift for me to get to a nearby function, and checked in the next day to make sure that I got home safely. The views and grounds are beautiful. Well worth a visit

Cons: Montrose River Lodge needs a bit of a face-lift, but is well priced and comfortable with beautiful views and facilities, so it it still worth every cent

Beautiful, tranquil place to stay for a stopover, and if you love nature you'll enjoy the stay.

Pros: Breakfast was good, the room was comfortable, and the hostess & staff were very friendly. We enjoyed our stay.

We absolutely loved it and will definitely be booking in again, entrance and exit was convenient, the staff was amazing

Pros: It was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, the scenery and the views were incredible. Our lux tent was clean, decorated beautifully, functional and convenient, we had no issues with mosquitoes. The wildlife is stunning as well as the abundance of butterflies. We had our privacy and everything was so relaxing.

Cons: The gate to the waterfall was locked, they said they found another route for guests due to issue with the gate as the gate belongs to other owners but we found a different waterfall and was also spectacular.

Great stop off.

Pros: Montrose River Lodge turned out to be a great place for a stop between Graskop / Kruger and OR Tambo airport. Set in lovely green gardens with all kinds of plants, peacocks, monkeys and other birds, there is a tuck shop for snacks, an incredibly helpful and friendly host, and dinner available (for a price) if you let her know in advance. We stayed in the guest house; unlike other places we stayed in the double beds here are a decent size and the rooms large. There are walks around the area and along the river. The pool proved popular for a cool off from the heat.

Cons: Everything was good - a few bits around the rooms were starting to show their age but no more or less than other places we stayed at in SA.

Great nature stopover

Pros: Lovely accommodation, perfect to stop over for a night or two. Beautiful river walk nearby. Very kind and accommodating owners. Superb breakfast. Would book again.

Cons: Can be a little noisy at night due to road traffic from the main road nearby, despite the property being very quiet.

Pros: Loved being in nature and the house was really nice on the inside with a really nice balcony.

Cons: Stove did not work and the walking trails were not marked.
