Zwakala River Retreat

Pros: The place was so refreshing, private and of nature, the wood stove was so 👌 🔥 ,swimming in the river

Pros: Beautiful location with many things to do onsite, a viby brewery and cool kids playground.

I didn’t want to leave!!!

Pros: The cabin was very clean and well maintained. The atmosphere was spectacular!

Cons: Nothing about the property in particular but the fact that the roads are bad in rainy weathers

Our stay is exactly what we wanted and we left refueled, the sage herb was a bonus and a souvenir!

Pros: We loved everything about it, the location, the privacy, the abundance of nature and peace👌🏾

Cons: The water flow drainage of the shower in Noka suit, just look into ways to block the water in going into the bedroom.

Definitly meet my expectations

Pros: The cottage was so so cozy, it was lovely, would definitly book again

Cons: The clear window at the shower was not nice, anyone can see you, was not happy with that

Our stay was absolutely gorgeous and serene — the sound of the nearby flowing river made it feel like a peaceful escape

Pros: The location and décor were absolutely perfect! Every piece was beautifully curated — the colour scheme tied everything together so effortlessly. The kitchen was also a standout feature: stylish, spacious, and fully equipped for a comfortable self-catering stay.

Cons: Overall, the place was clean and the bedding was wonderfully fresh and crisp. That said, the wooden floors could benefit from a bit of extra scrubbing, and I did notice a few spider webs on the ceiling — perhaps a light deep clean would help freshen things up even more. The cabins were also quite chilly, especially at night. Some added insulation or a heating option like an aircon would make the stay even more comfortable. Luckily, we had packed an extra fleece, which definitely came in handy!

Pros: I loved the fact that I was able to connect with nature, far from everything, peaceful and so beautiful. Overall I loved everything about the place& it was a 10/10 Omg the outside bathtub🥰 it was everything& more 💯

Cons: On the bathroom the hot water are not easily adjustable to mix with cold water, the road to zwakala is not good it should be maintained

Pros: The fire place was the best feature of the cabin and the quietness with the sound of the river flow

Cons: The fact that there is no network so in case of emergency it is a problem and atleast if every cabin can be provided with an intercom or walkie talkie to can communicate with staff instead of walking or driving to ask for help as we experience a power failer and had to drive 3 times to enquire on it

A hidden gem in Haernesburg

Pros: The serenity, nature and everything . I am definitely coming back.
