Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge

Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge is a magical oasis nestled in the heart of the stunning Lowveld area of the Limpopo Province. Our location is simply unbeatable - just 10 km North of Hoedspruit. Eastgate airport (Hoedspruit HDS) is a mere 25 km from the Lodge, and only a short distance from the awe-inspiring “Panorama Route” along the majestic Drakensberg Escarpment. As part of the Balule Nature Reserve, we are proud to be incorporated into the Greater Kruger National Park Management Area, ensuring that our guests can enjoy traversing on over 12,000 hectares of pristine wilderness. Our charming lodge offers six thatched rondawels, each one featuring a twin/king or queen bed and a private en-suite bathroom. For families or larger groups, we have two Family room with interleading doors between the twin/king and queen rooms, each with their own facilities. All the rooms have fans, air-conditioners and a bar fridge, ensuring a comfortable stay for everyone. But, that’s not all - we also have a luxurious suite that goes above and beyond our other rooms, complete with a private pool that is perfect for relaxing and soaking up the African sun. We’re proud to say that our lodge has just had its 4-star TGCSA rating renewed, so you can be sure that you are in good hands when you stay with us. When you are not out on game drives, you can browse around our large curio shop or relax in a hammock alongside the sparkling pool. Alternatively, you could read, chat and have a drink in our outdoor bar and lounge, where you can enjoy breath-taking views of the bushveld overlooking our well-frequented waterhole. We have a variety of meal settings, be it breakfast in our indoor dining room, lunch on the lawn under a canopy of trees, or dinner in the boma where we serve up delicious campfire meals that will leave you feeling satisfied and content. One of the hallmarks of the Mohlabetsi experience is the exceptional food and ambiance of the lodge. Pros: Amazing place and fantastic staff. Tasty food, beautiful and comfortable room, very clean, pleasant garden...Impossible to fault anything. We had an amazing stay. The game drives were perfectly organised and the guide was very knowledgeable and managed to find the animals.

As a family of six, Mohlabetsi was, for us, the ideal location for the perfect safari experience.

Pros: The lodge is located in the Greater Kruger park and is therefore ideally suited for those wishing to see big game. The housekeeping staff were very friendly and looked after our every need. The ranger, Sam, and tracker, Richard, were first class and were clearly very knowledgeable about wildlife. In our three days we saw all the big five and a great deal more. Overall the lodge is clearly a happy, well-run place where many of the staff have worked for over 20 years. Moreover, it is an affordable option compared to the more famous, very expensive 5* reserves in the region.

Cons: There was nothing we did not like about Mohlabetsi. We could not fault the food, the service levels, or the overall experience. OK, whilst the breakfast coffee was delicious, it could have been kept hotter.

Wonderful Safari Lodge

Pros: Lovely friendly staff, room was large and bed very comfortable. Everyone at the lodge was really helpful, great food and fantastic game drives with Hamilton and Enoch. We saw all the big 5, would definitely recommend.

Cons: A canopy on the landcruiser safari vehicles would have been nice for a little shade

Simply the best!

Pros: Absolutely brilliant! My booking was a last minute impulse decision, and the deal offered on Booking.com was amazing. Jo and her team run a great operation, and make everyone feel special. The guest accommodation is in the form of individual rondavels, and they are top quality. The outdoor shower was a highlight! The food = oh my goodness - this was great. Far too much to eat, but better too much than too little. I had to skip a couple of meals. The safari drives are exciting, and the guides are friendly and professional. And great to meet new friends from all over the world. All in all, simply the best. Highly recommended.

Pros: Friendly staff. Intimate amount of guests. Safari tracker and guide - James and Octavia were brilliant, and very efficient, knowledgeable, funny and friendly.

Cons: The pool area could do with an update, particularly some shade.

Brilliant lodge

Pros: Beautiful grounds, attentive staff, delicious food and great safari rides. The game drivers are extremely knowledgeable, good fun, educational and passionate about what they do. They care for the animals but also want to give you the best experience possible. Lucky (our driver) was determined to ensure we had an amazing time. He is really funny, patient and loves the animals. Enoch (or Anok sorry I don't know to spell it) was also so pleasent and kind, he was a great tracker and spotter. Jo's hospitality along with the rest of the staff was second to none.

Pros: Staff were absolutely warm and welcoming, knowledgeable and hospitable the facilities were well appointed, very clean and easy to navigate. The food was absolutely amazing. Props to Chef Priscilla. Wow. Thank you for the delicious meals. The game drives were thrilling and quite successful from Rhino, lions, leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, eagles, vultures, mongoose, crocodile, Hippo, kudu, Impala, springbok and more.
