peacefully remote
Pros: My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Kamoka Camp. It’s a beautiful and cosy tiny house set right next to a large pond. From the wonderful terrace, you can observe a wide variety of birds. Camilla is incredibly helpful, and we also had the chance to get a glimpse of the neighbouring NGO Daktari School, which is closely connected to Kamoka Camp. The organisation focuses on working with young people as well as caring for local wildlife that can unfortunately no longer be released back into the wild. We also went on an early morning bush walk with Camilla and her dog, during which she shared lots of interesting information about the trees and plants in the bush. I would stay there again at any time, even though the camp is indeed quite remote. We were aware of this before our trip, and I personally really enjoyed the drive along the dirt road.
Cons: One thing to keep in mind: you are truly in the bush, surrounded by South African nature, which means there are plenty of insects—especially after dark. This didn’t bother me at all; that’s simply part of being in nature.

Pros: We loved the quiet bush setting and the sense of privacy. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It was an excellent bush camp experience.
Cons: The fan works well despite the noise, and clear communication about this would be helpful. The porch roof lets in sunlight, which is warmer during the day but very enjoyable in the afternoon and would be lovely in winter.

Pros: We had a fantastic time at Kamoka camp. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. In the area, there are lots of animals walking around. The tiny house exactly matched the pictures and Camilla was a great host. Additionally, Camilla showed us the work that she does for the NGO just around the corner of Kamoka camp, where wounded animals are being cared for and the local population is being taught about the animals, the environment and more. The pool there was a nice extra to cool off, as it got quite hot… We would definitely recommend the accommodation. Thanks again Camilla for the great time!

Kamoka Visit
Pros: You are literally paying for what you see in the pictures. You are literally in the middle of nowhere and are up,close and personal with nature. I would definitely go back to Kamoka. Camilla is also such a wonderful who responds to every request that we had. If you are looking to be in the wild and away from the city then I highly recommend this place.
