Umkumbe Bush Lodge - Luxury Tented Camp

Very good value lodge.

Pros: The pool area was lovely Our guide Derek was amazing.

Cons: Go for the larger rooms if possible as standard rooms are very tight. The evening meals were a little rushed.

After touring around Kruger our Sabi Sands stay was the prefect end to our safari adventure.

Pros: Perfect location for Sabi Sands and big five encounters. Amazing relaxing and break out areas with views or water holes ….. visited by giraffe and hippos while we sipped our coffee.

Cons: All perfect!

Pros: The location inside Sabi Sands is excellent and the lodge is very cozy, well-organized, and impeccably clean. The game drives were a highlight, the guides are extremely knowledgeable and made every safari enriching, always explaining the animals and their behavior in a very engaging way. The staff was consistently warm and attentive throughout our stay.

Cons: The only point that could be improved is the lunch offering, which felt a bit limited and not as refined as the rest of the services, considering the high overall quality of the experience.

Pros: Lovely tent and hospitality. Great location with a water hole in front of the pool and lounge deck. Game drives were fantastic, with frequent sightings of rhinos, leopards, elephants and many other animals. As noted by others, there are different territories in sabi sands, and each lodge is only allowed to traverse in its own property. Therefore there is less cooperation than in other reserves like manyeleti but for umkumbe there were still 7-8 cars so not a big issue. Would always come again given the value you get for the price!

Truly memorable safari experience if you want to feel totally in one with nature

Pros: Stunning tented accommodation with a wonderful outdoor rainforest shower and patio. We couldn’t feel more closer to nature than we did. Simply gorgeous setting.

Would live there if I could

Pros: Everything was just perfect. The tents, the staff, the guides, the game drives, dinner, breakfast, the pool. 10/10

Nice glamping experience in a charming environment with great people

Pros: Our guide Charlie, deeply liking his job, made the big part of our stay a success. A big 11/10 for him. Great tent experience stay and staff were always kind and attentive. Standard tents are a bit small but overall we were well installed. The food was very good at every time. The lodge itself offer a great terrasse with a superb view point in the bush. We also had a nice bush walk with Peter their lead guide which is really knowledgeable.

Cons: I would definitely expect them to have a tracker for morning drive too. Our guide was great but would probably enjoy a little extra help. A lot of exclusion that needs to be added to the bill. Nothing incorrect but they could easily offer a more inclusive price.

Pros: Location brilliant, generous safari time, guides wonderful, knowledgeable

The place to be

Pros: Amazing people and amazing place! They treat you like family and the food, omg, so good and homemade, best bobotie ever! The bed was very comfy and the facilities in general were great, also having the swimming looking out to wildlife, so nice! Highly recommended, especially staying in Sabi Sands, we got to see so many animals and super close. We will be back for sure. Thank you very much for everything.

Luxury experience with very knowledgeable staff.

Pros: The luxury tents are perfect. The best part of the experience though was our guide, Charné Her knowledge, respect and enthusiasm for the animals is beyond compare. And our night tracker, Captivity, was also very skilled. He even spotted a chameleon in a bush in the dark !
